At an age when most Americans are only starting to get politically engaged, Morgan Zegers may be just a few weeks away from winning elected office.

Describing herself recently she said, “I’m a 21-year-old middle-class young woman who built my savings working at a diner… Oh, and I am also my political party’s endorsed candidate for New York’s 113th Assembly District.”

Like many women entering seeking office for the first time in 2018, Zegers was motivated to run by outrage at the politics she saw around her. Not, as has been the case for many Democrats, by national politics. Republican Morgan Zegers wants to halt the gradual decline of New York State’s government into corruption and inefficiency. If she can win over enough voters in her rural district north of Albany, she will get that chance.

She is also adamant that she will not become a career politician and has given herself a 10-year limit to achieve her ideals in office. “My personal motto is get in, get it done, and get out,” she says.

Confident on the issues, Zegers is also confident with her fashion choices. Here are our favorite style moments from her time on the campaign trail.

Confidently poised

As one of the youngest candidates for any office in 2018, Morgan Zegers knows how to speak to young voters. The best way to appeal directly to her peers? Arranging her very own Happy Hour, naturally. The sassy political hopeful partnered with the Lofts of Saratoga to host a campaign event in her honor. Her choice of outfit for the event set the perfect tone – slim-fitting navy blue trousers that skim the ankles, nude-colored ankle strap sandals and a flattering cream draped blouse. Happy Hour just got super classy!

Staying true to her small town roots, Zegers mingled with members of her local party at the Kingsbury GOP Chicken barbeque. Posing here alongside Senator Betty Little, Zegers exuded country charm at its finest. Dressed in a denim chambray T-shirt dress, she complemented the look with a thin brown leather belt and matching knee-high boots.

Rustic living

You can take the girl off the farm but you can’t take the farm out of the girl. And Zegers is living proof, seen here on a tour of Washington County’s third-largest dairy farm. “I’m not what most people think of when they picture a Republican,” she told the readers of Refinery29. “Sure, I hunt and fish, listen to old school country music, support our farmers and veterans and skew much more conservative than most people. But I don’t fit the old white guy stereotype.” She certainly does not, especially in this easygoing outfit of skinny jeans, Wellington boots and a burgundy jacket layered over easy separates.

A meeting of minds

Morgan Zegers with gubernatorial candidate for New York, Marc Molinaro. A young starter himself, Molinaro entered politics at the tender age of 18 and became the youngest mayor in the US a year later. The duo met at a speaking engagement in Saratoga, New York where Zegers wowed in an outfit perfect in its simplicity. She paired a white pencil skirt with a soft sleeveless blouse adorned in fine greenery.

Winning an election requires a lot of talking to potential voters. Here we see the aspiring Assemblywoman out on the streets of Malta, canvassing door-to-door. Those residents who weren’t home were treated to a handwritten note from the candidate herself. Her clothing choice for the day was suitably comfortable and perfectly styled – a black high-waisted skirt, a striped T-shirt and sporty running shoes. Comfort meets cute – just perfect!
