Malene Lausten Hartvigsen is successfully combining two careers that are rarely attempted simultaneously: modelling and politics.

As a model her work is in demand and she regularly appears in print publications. But Hartvigsen is no “model-turned-politician.” This ambitious 26-year-old has been active in Danish and European politics since her days as a student and appears set for successful careers in both fields.

In 2012 she joined Venstres Ungdom, the youth organization of Denmark’s third largest party – Venstre, Danmarks Liberale Parti (commonly known as “Venstre”).

While as student at the Copenhagen Business School she was a co-founder and vice-chair of Borgerlige Studerende, an organization that promotes personal responsibility and professionalism in the Danish education system. In 2015 she began a stint as a communications intern in the Danish parliament.

In 2017, after two years working on the board of her local party committee Hartvigsen was listed third on the party list for Venstre in the municipal elections of the Copenhagen suburb of Gentofte. This marked her first appearance in an election, and being listed third meant there was a real chance she could have ended up on the Gentofte council. In the final results, Venstre received enough votes for only its top candidate to win a seat, but this will surely not be the last time this young politician will throw her hat in the ring.

Earlier this year she began working in politics full time, taking a position on the staff of
one of the Danish members of the European Parliament, Morten Løkkegaard.

A particularly fashionable politician, Hartvigsen brings a bit of glamour to what can be an otherwise gray profession. Here are just some of our favorite style-moments from this future star of Danish politics.

Friday outfit

Hartvigsen knows just the right ways to flaunt her amazing physique. The stunningly-beautiful blonde is obsessed with black and white stripes. For her Friday outfit of the day (marked with a playful hair flip) the young politician worked a two-piece set. Don’t overlook the lovely flats, which perfectly compliment the outfit. It is great to get out of the regular pattern and try out new sophisticated ways to dress up, especially for young politicians.

Beautiful basics

Hartvigsen wore this basic but flattering outfit recently in Brussels, the headquarters of the EU Parliament. While many women would try to impress with a much more over the top look, the young beauty here explores a new style of power dressing: flaunting something comfortable while also matching the occasion. The black elegant handbag and classic black pumps give that sophisticated finishing touch.

Hartvigsen looks like a real-life fairytale princess in her magical wedding gown. The Danish politico opted for a white embellished and embroidered creation with a V opening in the back and front. She kept the makeup and hairstyle Hollywood-caliber, but what really leaves a strong impression is the train with its dramatic, voluminous finish.

Pastel blues

If there is one color that blondes should choose to wear all day, every day, it would have to be pastel blue. Luckily for Malene Lausten Hartvigsen, blue just happens to be the color of her political party, Venstre! She’s not afraid to show some skin in a body-hugging dress. The politician and model worked her best angles to get a glossy magazine style shot in this gorgeous dress.

Who says that female politicians can’t wear whatever they want? Power dressing has a new meaning and that’s all thanks to young stars such as Hartvigsen. Why not flaunt that smart dress that you love so much instead of a suit? The 26-year-old was working in Brussels on the day of this picture, not on the runway, but it sure looks like she’s wearing a catwalk-worthy outfit.
