There are many first-time politicians in 2018, but Kyra Harris Bolden may just have that little something extra. Currently the Democratic nominee for Michigan House District 35, expect to be seeing more of Bolden for many years to come.

After graduating law school, she took to the ground running, working hard on issues affecting her immediate community of Southfield, near Detroit. With her homegrown values firmly in place, she enjoys support not only from much of her community, but also from  Moms Demand Action, Run for Something, the Michigan Association for Justice, and the mayor of Southfield, Ken Siver.

Community is very important to Bolden. “Growing up, my neighbors were supportive and looked out for me,” she says on her campaign website. “Whether I was playing outside, walking home after getting off the school bus, or buying girl scout cookies from me, I knew from an early age that there were people looking out for me.”

Currently working as an attorney, Bolden also serves on Southfield’s Total Living Commission and other community groups.

This young Democrat is certainly one to watch. With a primary already under her belt, she is campaigning hard in the last few weeks before the general election. While she does, here is a this young leader’s stylish wardrobe choices made on the campaign trail.

“Watch the Throne” reads the caption to this striking picture. Could that be a reference to Jay-Z and Beyoncé maybe? If so, the young politician is right on the money. Her regal pose has all the makings of a young up-and-coming star. The stylish politician is a sight to behold in this shot. Seated in a regal, stately pose, she is dressed to the nines in an elegant knee-length shift dress with a demure high neckline and three-quarter length sleeves. The dark navy blue shade further accentuates the sophisticated nature of her entire ensemble.

Bolden is an active member of her local Christian Tabernacle Church and is seen here taking to the stage in glorious fashion. Her entire demeanor is made for the spotlight – a sleek shift dress composed of stunning bright cobalt blue rests elegantly just below the knee. She rounds off the refined outfit with a pair of court shoes featuring a high block heel. Who knew elegance could be so simple?

If there is one thing that Bolden does well, it is inspire young people. Here she is at her former middle school where she addressed students on the importance of not only voting, but also why education and civic involvement is so important. No doubt her outfit helped to seal the deal even further. She wears a svelte shift dress down to her knees over black opaque tights and matching black stiletto heels.

Marching for a cause

It’s not often that we see Bolden without her signature smile. But on the occasion of the March For Our Lives event, the mood was understandably somber and sincere. As a student during the “Columbine era”, she understands the impact school shootings have had on normal school life in America. Her outfit for the march was practical yet poised – a dark puffer jacket worn over blue skinny jeans and knee-high leather boots.

As the Democratic nominee prepares for public office, she is practicing her professional wardrobe with roaring success. Just check out this winning ensemble from one of her official campaign portraits. She wears a slim-fitting black pencil skirt, a tucked-in white silk blouse plus a tailored black blazer on top.
