Republican State Representative Holly Raschein was first elected to her South Florida seat in 2012 with an unusual work history. For the previous six years she had been working on the staff of a Democratic legislator.

“People always assumed I was a Democrat,” she told Sunshine State News in a 2012 interview. “But they always forgot that my first job was for a Republican.”

Soon after graduating from Florida State in 2001 with a degree in political science, Raschein began working for Republican Ken Sorensen. When her boss was term limited in 2006, she stayed on to help incoming Democratic member Ron Saunders.

“Ron always said we had a very bipartisan office, very much like our district, which is very half-n-half, so it was a good match,” she said.

Saunders decided to run for the State Senate in 2012, and Raschein decided it was finally her turn. She ran to represent the Florida Keys area she had been working with for over a decade, and won. A self-described “fiscally conservative, socially moderate” Republican, she has since been reelected three more times.

Having risen through the ranks, she now serves on the powerful Appropriations Committee, and chairs the subcommittee for Agriculture & Natural Resources Appropriations.

While Holly Raschein may have an innate knack for seeing beyond the simple black and white of political issues, she can’t seem to resist black and white outfits! In what can be a sea of conservative grays and navys, it’s never hard to pick her out from a legislative lineup.

Here are some of our favorites from this fashion-conscious politico.

Politicians rarely choose to show off their arms, and this eliminates many style choices from the start. Holly Raschein is an obvious exception. For a meeting with local business owners, she’s opted for a chic off-white knee-length dress. It features a classic cut, decorated with black details. Perfectly appropriate for the occasion, the number shows off her love of simple pieces with a twist. Combined with black heels, Raschien made certainly made a great impression on this visit.

Glamour is her middle name

Representative Raschein supported her local hospital at a charity event called the Bougainvillea Ball with this mesmerizing floor-length floral gown. To fit the luscious vibe of the gown, she put her hair in a trendy updo. The makeup is very simple, but with a strong hint of natural-like glow.

Who doesn’t love the eternally fashionable combo of black and white? Raschein celebrated her appointment as Chair of the Agriculture & Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee this December with a very cute dress featuring a striking pattern. The design is slightly over the knees with short sleeves, which makes it even prettier. The best part about the whole stylish look is the bold pair of red, pointed heels.

But still rocking colors

Whenever you want to add a feminine touch to your outfit, the ultimate way to do it is by flaunting a floral print. As a Florida politician, Holly Rashein also knows the art of power-dressing in a hot climate. This fun design features her two favorite shades, black and white, with a hint of navy. She amped up the shoe game with stunning white stilettos that perfectly accent her sun-kissed skin tone.
